If you’ve ever had a who’s who Brooklyn conversation how long did it take before you got a “Brooklyn Woody?” One of the most iconic Brooklynites, born: Allen Stewart Konigsber 12/1/1935 (in the Bronx, what?) legally changed his name to Heywood Allen at 17 years old and been Woody ever since.
There’s no refuting his brilliance as an actor, director, screenwriter, musician (the list goes on and on) – nevertheless this print was very close to being named “Brooklyn Strange,” but don’t you just love him anyway! I guess people can say whatever they want about this mastermind, but I can’t think of anyone better at writing the “meet cute.”
This print reminds me of something Mr. Allen said, “eighty percent of success is showing up.” However you define success – when you do the math I’m inclined to agree. Which is why we had to include 'Wood' in minimal hustle’s 2015 ‘Made Here,’ Brooklyn Series. Artwork based on his 1977 theatrical release, ‘Annie Hall.’ Learn more.
