"THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!”
WOMAN vs. BREAD: in a head-to-head bout we’re comparing ingredients to determine, which ‘WONDER’ bakes up to be more wholesomely iconic?
The ‘bread’ began with ads from The Taggart Baking Company of Indianapolis, Indiana debuting on May 21, 1921 simply stating a ‘WONDER’ is coming; the ‘woman’ has a 1941 origin story beginning on a mythical paradise island, home to Amazonian women enslaved by mankind, kept in chains, and eventually emancipating themselves, while also quite actually being born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 24, 1951.
Both marketed themselves within a celebrated red, white, blue, and yellow colorway. The first, has an established history of describing their product with a wholesome integrity, the latter literally entrusted a golden lasso to get a stranglehold on the truth.
So, which is more wholesomely iconic?
Unfortunately, individually it’s too close to call, but if you mix the batters of an enriched classic white baked good with an American Latina classic, Lynda Jean Cordova (frit frou) Carter, ah voilà! Wonder ‘Classic White’ Woman.
